What is Autograph Authentication?
Autograph Authentication is a very detailed inspection of various characteristics of a signed item to determine it's legitimacy. Every detail of an autograph is closely examined for inconsistencies such as stroke weight, slant & flow. Special comparative tools are used to reference submitted items against an extensive database of known authentic examples.
What does it cost to have an autograph authenticated?

What does the basic authentication service include?
The basic submission service will include a professional authentication on an item with a perceived value under $200 and has one autograph on a single item. The customer will receive a certificate of authenticity for the autograph. If you are unsure if your item qualifies, please contact us before submitting.
How long does it take to authenticate?
The current turn around time for the basic & regular service is 1-2 months. The express service is a 1 week turn around time from the date the order is received.

Do I need to make an appointment to come to your office?
The only time an appointment is needed to visit our office is if you would like our valuation service done on the same day.
Does ASFA accept personal mail?
ASFA allows pick up and drop off without an appointment at our office at:

Do you have a return policy?
If you would like to cancel your order before submitting it for service, please send an email to sf-autograph@outlook.com stating your order number and reason for cancellation. ASFA Certification Services are non-refundable once completed.
Our equipment.
In cases where closer examination is required, ASFA employs the Video Spectral Comparator (VSC) to reinforce the experts findings. This state-of-the-art authentication tool is a powerful workstation that uses sophisticated color and infrared imaging, magnification, coaxial lighting, side lighting, and on-screen, side-by-side or overlaid autograph comparisons. In doing so, the VSC can detect erasures, reveal masked and obliterated signatures, differences in ink types, and several other signs common in autograph forgeries which cannot be detected by the naked eye.
What proof of the authenticity of my item will I receive?
You will receive a Letter of Authenticity certifying that your autographed item is 100% authentic. The certificate has a hologram with a unique number that is assigned to each item that has passed the ASFA authentication. The same hologram with the same number will be on your item. This unique number is stored in our database and upon request, we are always available to confirm the authenticity of your item.
